Leicester city party venue Bistro Live has two reasons to celebrate, having reached its 10th birthday and raised a substantial amount of money on behalf of Leicester Charity Link.

Bistro Live hosted three events last week, including a VIP birthday gala night with live entertainment, and raised £1,000 to give to the charity which helps people in Leicestershire and Rutland in times of need with everyday essentials such as money for food, beds and clothing.

“We’re very grateful to Bistro Live for supporting us during its celebrations. For every £10 donation the Charity receives it raises £100 through charitable trusts so this money will be able to help even more local people than first might be imagined,” said Susie McEniff, director of marketing and fundraising for Leicester Charity Link. “At this time of year we get more requests than ever for help so the money couldn’t have come at a better time.”

Mark Henderson, director of Bistro Live, which has venues at Nottingham and Milton Keynes as well as here in Leicester, added: “We wanted to do something extra special this year to celebrate reaching such a great milestone. While we are very fortunate to work in an industry which celebrates the good times in life, we appreciate it’s not always like that for everyone. We know the money is going to do a lot of good for local people and it’s our way of thanking everyone who has supported Bistro Live over the last ten years.”

In celebration of reaching its 10th birthday milestone, Sileby-based brand, design and PR agency The Phoenix Partners has committed to making the next 12 months extra special for local people in need by fundraising £10,000 on behalf of Leicester Charity Link.

The pledge coincided with the launch of the agency’s fresh new image and branding at a private Halloween screening of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ at Phoenix Square for clients and guests.

The company has committed its support following the lead of managing director Rachel Hargrave, who raised over £1,800 for the charity earlier this year by scaling Kilimanjaro. Team members have organised a schedule of ‘Phoenix Moments’ fundraising events including a celebration for Chinese New Year on 19th January and sponsored events through the Institute of Directors, of which Rachel Hargrave is the current chair. Rachel also plans to follow her Kilimanjaro summit by attempting Mount Elbrus in the Western Caucasus mountain range in Russia next August.

Speaking at the event, Rachel said: “We’re very proud to have reached our tenth year and excited about our new image and the task we have set ourselves. Leicester Charity Link offers a vital lifeline to local people during times of need and the team is putting real energy into supporting what we know is an incredibly worthwhile cause.”

Susie McEniff, director of marketing and fundraising for Leicester Charity Link, said: “We are a charity which helps individuals and families who are in desperate need when there is sometimes nowhere else to turn to. We simply can’t provide our vital service in our community without the help of companies such as The Phoenix Partners who are willing to put time and effort in to achieve their target of raising £10,000. Knowing how determined Rachel has been in the past through setting up a successful business we are sure she and the team will do everything possible to achieve it. For every £10 donation we receive the Charity raises £50 from charitable trusts so in reality £10,000 will generate £50,000 for those in need.”

Ten year old Aime Gohil from Oadby, completed a sponsored swim in aid of Leicester Charity Link. Amie sympathised with local children living in poverty and therefore decided that she would like to make an effort to help the less fortunate by raising some money. Her original fundraising target was just £50, but she has managed to smash her target by raising £600 so far!

While searching for an appropriate charity to volunteer for Aime came across Leicester Charity Link. After learning about the ways in which the charity helps the community, Aime decided that she wanted to help raise money on their behalf by organising a sponsored swim. On the 23rd October she swam 1,000 metres in 42 minutes and 53 seconds at Cannons Health Club, Leicester.

Commenting on her decision to participate in charity work, Aime said: “One night I told my dad I wanted to do something to help local children living in poverty, so I decided to change some children’s lives by trying to raise money. I enjoy swimming so I decided to do a sponsored swim.”

Aime started her fundraising at home, by asking for donations from friends, family, neighbours and supporting organisations such as her family doctor. Leicester Charity Link supported Aime by promoting the swim on its twitter feed.

Speaking on behalf of the charity Susan McEniff, director of Marketing and fundraising, said: “We were so excited to hear from Aime and loved supporting her in her plans to raise money for our charity. We are so pleased for her and how well she has done in raising so much money.”

For every £10 donation the Charity raises £50 from charitable trusts. A donation of just £10 provides £50 worth of food vouchers or a donation of £20 can buy a bed for a child to sleep in. In 2010 Leicester Charity Link raised over £724,000, changing the lives of 5,495 people in desperate need throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Aime is still raising money for Leicester Charity Link, to donate please visit http://www.justgiving.com/Amie-Gohil.
